Several years back, I accidentally stumbled upon something (can’t remember how) about The Perfect Workout. The name alone intrigued me. So I did a little more digging. Their website looked legit, and to be honest, it all sounded too good to be true. Twenty minutes, twice per week?! That’s all I had to do? So I called and made an appointment for a free consultation. That’s when I met Charlie. He explained how the whole slow motion training thing worked and started measuring what was “ground zero,” otherwise known as my starting point. I signed up on the spot. There was some serious hope in my eyes! I had tried everything to get motivated, and having some accountability was a good start. I wouldn’t wanna let Charlie down!
What is Slow Motion Strength Training?
Slow motion strength training involves performing exercises very slowly, which increases the time your muscles are under tension. This method helps to thoroughly work your muscle fibers by pushing them to the point of fatigue, or “muscle failure.” When you work your muscles this intensely, it boosts your metabolism because your body needs more energy to repair and grow the muscle tissue. Additionally, this type of training can reduce stress by releasing endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals, and promote weight loss by burning calories and building lean muscle mass, which in turn increases your overall metabolic rate. As if things couldn’t get any better…it does. It took a huge bite out of my frustrations and relieved some serious anxiety and stress! You know…those things us ADHDers are nice and riddled with!
Mondays and Thursdays…I zipped over to the Perfect Workout after work where Charlie proceeded to kick my behind while smiling the entire time. In a mere 20 minutes, I found myself staggering back to my car on shaky legs. When I got there, I kinda just stared at the door handle. My arms were too weak to lift them up to open it! The whole point of the Perfect Workout is to work your muscles to failure. In 20 minutes. And oh…fail they did. That Charlie…
It didn’t take too long before my coworkers started noticing that I was losing weight like gangbusters. So I told them what I was doing. Next thing he knew, Charlie had two new clients! Then there were three of us, each getting our turn being annihilated by the leg press machine. The stories of Stephanie’s swearing tirades were exceptionally hilarious! Charlie didn’t seem to mind. He was always there, and always seemed so happy to see us!
The big point here…The Perfect Workout WORKED. All three of us lost weight and were SO MUCH STRONGER. It was truly incredible. Stairs? Ha – bring it! If you’re looking for something different – and effective to try, this…is a great option!
